Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico: A Brief Introduction

If you’re looking for a new and exciting location to spend a few days with the kids and/or friends, Nuevo Vallarta should be at the top of the list.

This city is located on the Pacific coast of Mexico, in the state of Nayarit, right next to Puerto Vallarta. And it’s a well-known touristic location due to the activities it offers and the gorgeous scenery. Moreover, in the last few years, the city made a bit of a name for itself as being a surfers’ heaven and a celeb getaway.

What’s there to do in Nuevo Vallarta?

The city sits on Banderas Bay and offers a wide array of fun things to do from golfing on world-class golf courses to shopping in exclusive boutiques and enjoying gourmet meals prepared by international Chefs.

But there’s more than just sitting back and enjoying relaxation in high-end style! Nuevo Vallarta is close to the Marieta Islands, well-known for their biodiversity, where tourists can enjoy swimming with the dolphins or sea lions, watching turtles in their natural environment or spotting humpback whales.

Moreover, surfers have the possibility to enjoy the waves of the Sayulita village, which is famous among wave riders. If you’re not into surfing, you can take a tour of the jungle on an ATV, visit a crocodile sanctuary or even zipline over the entire area!

Finally, the beach is long and sandy, perfect for long and romantic walks or jogging in the morning. Also, the water of the Pacific is warm and calm, which makes it ideal for both children and adults.

Accommodation

Nuevo Vallarta has options for all kinds of tourists. For instance, if you want comfort and luxury, we recommend staying at the Grand Luxxe resort. Situated on the beach, the resort has an ideal position as it offers a complete view of the Bay on one side and of the jungle on the other side.

Tourists can also rent vacation houses, which is a great option for bigger groups, who want to spend time in a more intimate enclosure. There are also lots of hotels and other types of accommodation, so it’s easy to find something to fit your needs.

However, it’s best to think ahead as the location is getting quite crowded during high season.

How’s the Weather?

Nuevo Vallarta is a location with warm weather all year-round, but there are seasons. The best time to visit is between December and April when the sun shines and the weather is fantastic for all sorts of activities. However, it’s also the busiest season here, so if you want some peace and quiet, you may want to re-think it.

From July to September it rains almost every day, but the ocean remains warm and you can still do underwater activities. This leaves us with June, October, and November when the weather is still good, there are fewer tourists, and the hotel and flights are more affordable.

It’s also one of the safest cities in Mexico and it’s not on the U.S. State Department Travel Warnings or other international travel warnings.
