4 Ways to Upgrade Your Home

Many of us are spending more time than ever at home, which leaves us with plenty of time to consider ways we could make our home more comfortable. When we think about DIY home upgrades, we often think of big time consuming projects that cost a lot and seem to never end. But the truth is there are some simple changes you can make around your home, that can make a big difference in terms of how it feels and looks. Here are my suggestions for 4 ways to upgrade your home that wont cost a fortune or take months to complete:

1. Invest in Your Garden
If you’re lucky enough to have a garden, then you’ll fall into one of two categories: someone who leaves their garden to fend for itself, or someone who likes to spend the time to ensure their garden is beautiful and looking its best. I have a small but beautiful garden and it’s become a sanctuary for me this year with all the lockdowns and restrictions. One of the easiest ways to improve the look of your garden is by adding in some beautiful flowers. You can invest in some beautiful tulip bulbs, allowing you to more easily grow your flowers than from a seed. The wonderful thing about tulips is that they’re available in a wide variety of colours, to suit any colour palette and preference. They also tend to bloom for quite a while, ensuring your garden will be bright and colourful.

2. Ensure You Have a Comfortable Living Room
How’s your sofa looking? Is it still comfortable? If not, you might want to consider looking into a good quality secondhand couch or if the budget is there, buying new. If your couch is still in great condition, but you feel like something is missing, you can look to add a throw blanket or two and a few cushions to make it more comfortable. A fluffy rug is a wonderful way to make your living area more cozy. These small touches can make a big difference to the overall feel of your room, and are quick changes so you can enjoy the results fasts.

3. Repaint Your Home
One of the ways homes start to look dated is due to the paint wear and tear that happens over time. The condition of the paint outside your home can really impact your home’s curb appeal. There’s also a lot to be said about coming home to a home you feel proud of, and how it looks from the outside will definitely impact your overall feeling of your home. Repainting your home can be quite an undertaking, so if you’re not quite sure you’re ready for that investment you can look to hire someone to professionally water blast and clean the outside of your home. It will give it a thorough clean, make it look newer, and improve the overall look without costing a fortune.

4. Think About Your Bed
You probably spend around a third of your day each day in bed. Good quality sleep makes such a big difference to your overall energy levels, mood and productivity. For this reason you should take the time to invest in a quality mattress that is comfortable and supportive. Mattresses can be quite expensive investments, something you should look to do at least once every decade. But your bed is so much more than your mattress. You want supportive pillows that help you achieve correct alignment of your neck. This is one area of the home where I think it pays to spend a little more to ensure your comfort.

Hopefully these tips inspire you for simple ways you can upgrade your home, ensuring it is more comfortable and that you really treasure your time at home.
