Why you Should Visit the Gold Coast

With golden beaches spanning 52km, 300 sunny days each year and millions of visitors drawn to the fun-in-the-sun, if you’re visiting Australia the Gold Coast is a must-visit.

Here are some reasons why you should visit the Gold Coast:

The many activities

If you’re hoping to learn to surf, this is one of the best places to learn so rent a longboard or get yours at Legit Boardshop, grab some lessons and you’ll be standing up in no time. Head to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and spend some time cuddling a koala before watching the free-flight bird show and seeing a sheep get sheared. Of course, Movie World is the place to go for adrenaline-junkies, and if you’re traveling with the whole family you can experience the thrills of 3D rides and movie attractions. Seaworld and Dreamworld are also waiting, as are Wet’N’Wild and Whitewater World- the hardest part will be choosing a theme park or two to visit.

Australian Sunset Safaris are a great way to see the area, and you’ll jump into a four-wheel drive bus and travel along the beaches and rainforest tracks of Fraser island, swim in a crystal clear lake and spend some time kayaking (in a transparent kayak) over the shipwrecks on Moreton Island, watching the fish dart past and peek up at you through the coral. You’ll be spoiled for choice in the Gold Coast, so be sure to book your activities in advance so you don’t miss out!

The excellent beaches

Almost all of the beaches are patrolled by lifesavers, although you should be sure to swim between the flags as rips are a danger. Surfers Paradise is one of the most famous beaches in Australia, although it may be packed with tourists so Broadbeach is a good alternative and is close to a shopping centre called Kurrawa Park.Burleigh Heads is another good option when the winds are hitting Surfers and Broadbeach since the hill gives a nice amount of shelter.

The delicious food

Because of the popularity with tourists, restaurants and cafes in the Gold Coast are open late into the night. The Gold Coast is packed with excellent restaurants and foodies will be spoiled for choice and you’ll be wanting to escape the heat of the day with air conditioning Gold Coast and relax in comfort.

If you’re bringing the kids, be sure to try Dracula’s Cabaret Restaurant, which is sure to thrill the whole family with its train ride, talented performers and delicious three course dinner.

For something a little less performance-based, Waves Buffet Restaurant allows the whole family to serve themselves and you can choose from plenty of dishes that are both fresh and dynamic and locally produced.

For mum and dad, Seascape Restaurant and Bar has amazing seafood cuisine and some of the best views on the Gold Coast- located opposite Surfers Paradise so you can enjoy spectacular views while you have a drink or two.
