Sports are a big deal all around the world and there are so many to choose from. Whether you like ball sports, combat sports, or racing sports, there will be something for you to enjoy. 1. Formula 1
A truly international sport that takes place in 33 countries, there is nothing quite like the thrill of Formula 1 racing. The first race takes place in Bahrain in March and the last race occurs in Abu Dhabi in December. Britain’s Lewis Hamilton has been the dominating driver for the past few years with Belgian-Dutch Max Verstappen being his closest rival. There have been many rivalries over the years including Michael Schumacher and David Coulthard in the early 2000s and Nikki Lauda and James Hunt in the mid-1970s. Most of the drivers are amicable and respect each other so the rivalries rarely end badly. Formula 1 is a true test of passion and skill and is always thrilling to watch.
2. Soccer
If numbers are anything to go by then Soccer, or football, is probably the most widespread sport in the world. It is an extremely popular sport with about 4 billion people following and playing the sport with some standout countries producing some of the best players in the world including Spain, Brazil, Madrid, Germany, and England. This international sport is over 2000 years old and has so many legends of the game throughout the years that include Diego Maradona, Pelé, David Beckham, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
3. Horse racing
The Sydney Spring Carnival is host to some of the biggest races in the world including the Sydney Cup, the Australian Derby, the Doncaster Handicap, and the Queen Elizabeth Stakes. The Everest, which is the richest turf horse race in the world, has a total prize purse of $15,000,000AUD that makes for an exciting event. The races take place at the Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney and have been done since 1883. Looking at Randwick racing odds gives you a better chance of choosing a winner by knowing which horses are the best for any given race during the festival. If you find yourself in Melbourne during the spring, then you might want to attend the prestigious Melbourne Cup at Flemington Racecourse which is one of the most famous horse racing events in the world.
4. Basketball
Ever since it was invented in the late 1800s, basketball has been one of the most popular sports in the United States, not to mention the world. It is a test of athleticism, teamwork, and comradery while also being a fun sport to play. Players such as Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, and LeBron James, have helped people all over the world by showing how they can be the best they can be by utilizing their skill and determination. Some of the greatest athletes in the world have come from basketball and it is a great way to stay in shape and meet new people.
