4 Ways To Speed Up Recovery After Exercise

When you’re exercising regularly it’s important that you look after yourself properly. If you don’t take care of your body and keep it safe during exercise, you’re likely to get injured. You’re also likely to hurt yourself if you don’t give your body enough time to repair itself and recover before you start exercising again. A lot of people end up getting injured because they’re impatient and they want to get back out there again, if that’s you, you need to try some of these great ways to speed up recovery.

When muscles get overworked, you can easily pull them and they’ll tighten right up. If that happens, you’ll be out of action for a while and you won’t be able to exercise at all. Sleep More

Most people don’t think about how much sleep they get when they’re trying to recover from exercise but it does have an impact. When you’re sleeping, your body takes that time to repair itself in all sorts of different ways so you’ll recover quicker. Your body is also far less efficient if you haven’t been sleeping properly so your muscles won’t get back to normal as quickly as they should do. Make sure that you’re getting at least 7 hours of sleep every night, especially if you’ve been working out.

So many people are drinking expensive protein shakes to get the fuel their body needs to repair itself after a heavy workout but the thing is, there’s no need to spend all of your money on that stuff. A glass of chocolate milk has plenty of protein in there to help repair muscle and the sugar and carbs in there give you the energy boost that your body needs after a big workout. It’ll cost you a lot less than buying protein shakes and it does exactly the same thing.


I don’t need to tell you that you need to drink water during your workout as well as after, but people often don’t drink enough. If you don’t have enough water in your system before you start working out, your muscles are far more likely to get damaged. It also slows down recovery no end if your body is dehydrated after a workout. Drink a bottle full of water before you start working out and make sure you’re getting plenty during exercise as well. Once you’re done, make sure you drink at least another bottle of water to help you recover.
